Hidden Love Part 1

We met in high school and were instantly friends. People looked at us as we walked around the school me the known quiet senior boy with the heart of gold and her the awkward junior girl who was desperately in love with me. Everyone saw the looks she gave me. Well everyone but me. I remained oblivious for the first year of our friendship. I saw her as a sister, a best friend, but never anything more and once i made that clear she came to terms with it. She still wrote poetry about me in secret and cried at night but if she could only have me in her life as her best friend and brother she was willing. I took a year off after i graduated and moved a few cities away. We didn't even speak for nearly a year and she was devastated. When i moved back home we reconnected as great friends and it was almost like the separation had never happened. We spent the next few years learning every detail of each other's lives becoming better friends all the time. I watched her date guys who hurt her and she cried far more than she wanted me to know. We picked up each others pieces when we needed to and were the epitome of best friends. Nobody understood it but we didn't care. Of course all this time I held onto the deep love I felt for her.
